After some time away from the project to focus on things outside of my creative mind, I’ve returned to production and decided to release the animatic of one of the final scenes of the film. I’d focused my attention on crafting the storyboards for the climactic scenes in the film, and from these static images, with a combination of after effects and some help from AI video software, I’ve put together the above animatic. I have condensed the final scene down a fair bit, and I still think more scenes will likely need to be added to add more drama and tension to this final moment of Talib’s journey.
On the subject of journey’s, I feel I’ve reached a point where I’m trying to decide if pitching this film as a partially fleshed out concept to potential production companies is a better next move rather than trying to finish the entire project by myself. As you may know, the first chapter of this film took me nearly 4 years to complete. This sounds crazy, but I revisited and changed so much of the initial film, along with learning how to animate from scratch by myself while holding down a demanding full time job. The fact that AI didn’t really exist in my world back in 2020 also played a part, as every frame was hand drawn. If I do opt to continue and finish the film with the concluding part 3, there is no question AI will be involved. As some of you AI creators know, it’s incredibly hit and miss with results, and what I’ve created of the film so far has it’s own character and style based on the hand drawn, frame by frame animated work that would need to be replicated.
This is such a passion project of mine, and the subject matter requires this to be done properly. I owe it to the vision of this project to fight to keep it going, and after writing this I’m going to continue down both paths. This is a story based on true events and is incredibly emotionally charged. I’ll do everything I can to do this justice. I’ll keep you posted on the next, hopefully exciting steps in this journey!
